I am José María Mateos Pérez, a data scientist working in Montreal. Formerly, I was a postdoctoral fellow at the Montreal Neurological Institute (The Neuro, for shorts) doing research on computational neuroscience. I did my PhD on 4D imaging clustering techniques applied to nuclear medicine. You can find bits and pieces of my previous academic life on Google Scholar, but unless you are in academia, you will find my github page much more interesting.

While I normally write in Spanish, I started this blog as a way of writing in English about data analysis and some other closely related stuff (or not related at all).

Why rinzewind.org?

Rinzewind (variation over the original Rincewind character from Terry Pratchett's Discworld novels) was my IRC nick since the early 2000's. I changed a letter because, obviously, the original one was already taken. It was shabby then and it's shabby now, but I got used to it. I registered this domain around 2006 and have been maintaining it since.
